Talk About Team Spirit
More than 60 agents and company representatives enjoyed the second annual Shot Clock Social at Press Room Pub on March 21st. They enjoyed cheering on their favorite basketball team, comparing brackets, and making new business relationships. Herb Escher from Dale Carnegie Training led the group in an interactive training exercise on networking and building connections. Everyone had a chance to fill out a bracket to win $250 cash and have a $250 donation made in their name to ED23HOOPS (please link; link below), a foundation started by former SU basketball star Eric Devendorf.

Big I NY’s Go Big event is at Turning Stone Resort Casino on May 13th and 14th. It’s two days packed with tangible takeaway, networking, industry experts, a trade show with favorite and new solution providers, and a celebration of the best in our business. Big I CNY will be there, and we hope you will be, too.

Get ready for an awesome day of golf, networking, and some friendly competition at this year’s Big I CNY Golf Tournament on Monday, June 24th. We’re going even bigger this year at the beautiful Timber Banks. NEW this year, you can pick the style of play that suits you best!
9-Hole Golf Social
Great for beginners and recreational golfers. Get in an easy and relaxing 9-holes first thing in the morning before grabbing lunch at the club house. Plenty of time for you to head into the office or take the rest of the day off…we won’t tell.
18-Hole Tournament
Perfect for avid golfers looking to show off their game and want a challenge. This is the whole tournament experience with contests, lunch, and drinks on the course. We’ll wrap up the day and award prizes at the post-tournament reception and dinner. Contests include Longest Drive, Closest to the Pin, Hole-in-One and 50/50 Tee Shot. To keep the pace of play moving, we are once again doing max bogey per hole and max 2 putt. We are also capping the tournament to 32 teams. May the best foursome win!
No matter the play you pick, you'll have a great time hitting the links while helping local charities. Thanks to your support of last year’s tournament, we donated $15,000. The tournament also supports the Project InVEST Robert Maher Memorial Scholarship Fund, which helps CNY students continue their education in the field of insurance.
Golf’s not your game? That’s okay. Come out to Timber Banks for the social reception and dinner. Enjoy the beautiful view from the back deck and catch up with friends.

It’s one of our favorite days of the year! Big I CNY donated $1,000 to 15 amazing local charities for a total of $15,000 to help our community. Thank you to the golfers, sponsors, and attendees of the June 2023 golf tournament. Your participation allowed us to donate a record amount!
We encourage you to learn more each of these very deserving charities. If you have a favorite charity, let us know because this year’s golf tournament will be here before we know it.
cpcu now accepting scholarship applications
Have a student that needs help paying for college? The Syracuse CPCU Society Chapter is offering scholarships to help with the costs. Applications are being accepted now through April 1, 2024. There are three classes of scholarships available:
Senior high school students who plan to attend college in the fall of 2024 as a full-time student - Apply
Students who enrolled as a full-time student for the fall 2024 term in a Risk Management and Insurance Program in CNY - Apply
Children, grandchildren or legal wards of a member in good standing with the Syracuse CPCU chapter who plan to attend college in the fall of 2024 as a full-time student - Apply
